Why Are Pre-Cast Detention Systems Superior to Block and Slab?
Traditionally, OSD installers have heavily relied on ‘block and slab’ solutions to build On Site Detention tanks and systems.
As the necessity for On Site Detention systems has increased, so too has the reliance on those traditional labour and time-intensive block and slab detention tanks. And, as with all demand increases, the costs have increased for slab work, block walls, suspended roofing and waterproofing.
More importantly the on site occupational health and safety requirements have made it more onerous for builders and contractors – this has also lead to increasing costs as well as the need for considerably more manpower and paperwork for Project Managers on site.
Builders and contractors are fast becoming busier in the ever-growing markets of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast – time becomes a major asset and lost time costs big money. Open excavations, delayed contractors, bad weather Australia regularly experiences, and the need to find additional components for block and slab systems can all combine to negatively impact building costs and efficiencies.
We pride ourselves on innovation
Traditionally, OSD installers have heavily relied on ‘block and slab’ solutions to build On Site Detention tanks and systems. This method can impact negatively on building costs and efficiencies when considering lengthy open excavations, delayed contractors, bad weather Australia regularly experiences, and the need to find additional components for block and slab system construction.
To counteract these negatives, Australian Tanks has developed and refined an EASY, FAST & COST EFFECTIVE solution to On Site Detention.
The ATQ-7-TS and ATQ-12-TS modular systems can be installed with all On Site Detention requirements in place, delivered to site pre-cured and with no waterproofing needed, and ready for an install that takes hours, not weeks or months.
Anti Floatation Design
The full range of Australian Tanks systems are a ‘single pour’ precast concrete tank, constructed with a built-in anti-floatation base where no additional ballast is required for installation in high water table areas.
The unique anti-floatation design provides on-site efficiencies and financial savings from potentially not having to manage water trucks on-site to add ballast in the tanks (May still be required prior to backfilling depending on the water height), and not requiring project management of concrete trucks to pour and tie in a ballast footing.
Due to the high compressive strength and durability requirements necessary for heavy duty construction, Australian Tanks uses 50Mpa strength concrete in all products manufactured.
Australian Tanks products are rated with a B2 classification, in accordance with Australian Standards AS3735 (Concrete Structures for retaining liquids).
Extra Heavy Duty – underground & Trafficable
Australian Tanks are regularly requested to replace tanks that have been driven over and damaged.
Many times these tanks have been installed in non-trafficable areas, such as parks and school ovals, but have been inadvertently driven over, only to find the tank has been unable to bear weight with the resulting damage requiring new tank installation.
To avoid these damaging risks Australian Tanks provide tanks that are manufactured to Australian Standards (AS5100.2) and are rated up to ‘unrestricted heavy vehicle access’ based on the SM1600 traffic design loads;
modular on site detention capacities
With a lower internal height, the ATQ-7-TS tank is perfect for shallow requirements of many small On Site Detention systems.
The larger and more robust ≈12,000 litre modular tank can achieve even more substantial and deeper detention solutions in the same EASY, FAST AND COST EFFECTIVE way at an even lower per litre price than the ATQ-7-TS.
